Blue Ice Experience - Glacier Walk
Embark on a unique journey across Vatnajökull’s outlet glacier. This Premium Blue Ice Glacier Hike takes you deep into the glacier, beyond standard tour limits, to experience the solitude and tranquillity of this icy wilderness.
Your guide warmly welcomes you in Skaftafell, and provides a thorough introduction to your equipment, including crampons and an ice axe, to ensure your safety and preparedness for your journey. The adventure begins with a short ride on a robust vehicle, bringing you close to the glacier's edge maximising your time on it.
Leaving the crowded parts of the Glacier the expedition is intentionally intimate, catering to small groups of up to 15 passengers, allowing the guides to offer a personalized experience and share their extensive knowledge of local flora, fauna, geology, and glaciology.
Each Icelandic Mountain Guide is 'Wilderness First Responder' certified and has completed the rigorous Hard Ice glacier training, developed with New Zealand's top guides. Many are active in local search and rescue teams and some are passionate scientists. They bring both expertise and a strong dedication to safety to your journey.

- Please note this is a meet at location tour at Skaftafell Base Camp - Vatnajökull National Park
- You will receive a voucher for this experience. Please read it thoroughly.
- You will be required to present a printed copy of your voucher at the time of tour departure.
- Remember to bring warm clothing, rain gear and hiking boots.
- Children 10 years and younger are not permitted on this tour.
- Ice climbing is not included in this tour.
- Operation of this tour depends on weather conditions on the glacier.
- If parking at the base camp there is a parking fee of approx 1000 ISK which must be paid at the location and is not included in the price.
- Please be there 20 min before the departure of your tour.
- CANCELLATION POLICY: Free cancellations for bookings cancelled with the operator up to 72 hours before your chosen activity date. No refunds are given for cancellations made within 72 hours.
